Who We Are

The best way to get to know us is to come along to one of our services. Christ Church Eccleston is a friendly church community. We love the bible and all it teaches us about God’s plan for our lives. We believe that God has given each of us gifts and talents, and that together we make up the Body of Christ. We are being shaped by God’s love, and we want to give that love away.

Our church vision statement is:

Holding you with God for Life

Our Gatherings

10.00am Every Sunday

We gather at Christ Church for morning worship every Sunday at 10, with Holy Communion on every 4th Sunday.

All ages are welcome and we have toys available for our younger members, under the supervision of their own adults. If it helps you to work out if we are your kind of church, we are low, inclusive, evangelical and have a mix of traditional hymns on our organ and newer songs on keyboard and guitar.

Toddler Time

Every Friday at 9:15am in The Orchard a group of adults desperate for adult company gather under the guise of bringing pre-schoolers to a group! I still come although my youngest is now in year 6.

We have a pre-walkers space for our youngest members, toys, crafts, refreshments (including the best buttered toast ever), story time and song time with nursery rhymes old and new.

Thursday Fellowship

7.30pm fortnightly

This long standing group has been a source of mutual support, laughter, learning and growing faith for a wonderful group of women who are always keen to welcome new friends into their embrace. Currently meeting at the Trapwood Centre on Saleswood Avenue, we enjoy a wide range of speakers alongside time to chat and enjoy refreshments.

Thursday Mornings

9:00am onwards

We have a fantastic team of volunteers that meet every Thursday to tend to our graveyard and clean inside Christ Church. You’re more than welcome to come and help; many hands make light work as they say.  Of course it’s not just the satisfaction of a job well done but also the friendships that form along the way that make it worthwhile being part of the team.

What We Believe

We believe in God as Father, Son and Holy Spirit is at the heart of our faith. Christians believe that Jesus is God’s Son. Jesus reveals to us that God is our Father, and that God is available to us through the Holy Spirit.

We are part of the Diocese of Liverpool and we join with all of the churches in our diocese in asking God to give us a Bigger Church to make a Bigger Difference in the world. We want to see more people knowing Jesus and more justice in all areas of life in St Helens, the UK and throughout the world.

You have a unique part to play in God’s world. Here at Christ Church Eccleston we will support you in developing a Rule of Life. Together, we are trying different ways to Pray, Read the Bible and Learn about our faith. We’re encouraging each other to Tell others about Jesus, Serve each other in our community to make the world a better place, and Give our time, talents and money to support the work of the church here and in the world.

Meet the Clergy Team

In addition to our clergy, we also have an amazing group of dedicated lay people who are part of the ministry team in Eccleston. They do a fantastic job of leading our gatherings and preaching both in person and online.

New to Church?

If you don’t normally come to church or haven’t been for a long time, you’ll be very welcome here at Christ Church Eccleston. We hope our website helps you find out more about us.

If you’re wondering about Christianity, the message at the heart of what we believe is pretty simple. There’s a three minute video below to give you an introduction to what it’s all about. You may also like to look at this website. If you’re interested in finding out more about what it is to be a Christian any of our team would be happy to help.

We understand that church may be a new experience for some people, and that you might have some general questions about what happens at St Lukes. Our team are always happy to answer your questions, don’t be shy!

Here are some of the more frequently asked questions.

We have a friendly welcome team who will normally greet you at the door. If any notice sheets or books are needed for the service these will be given to you. However, most of the time, all words will be projected onto large screens. If you are unsure about anything, our friendly welcome team are available to help you.

Our service format is easy to follow. It is led from the front so it is always clear on what is happening. Words for the songs, hymns and responsive prayers are projected on a screen so its easy to take part if you want to, but nobody will think badly of you if you stay seated or choose not to sing. We want you to feel at home with us. People of all ages attend our services, and children are most welcome. We don’t expect them to keep still or stay quiet, because they need to feel at home too!

Please wear whatever you feel most comfortable wearing – there is no set dress code. You’ll find there will be a wide range from jeans and t-shirts to suits and ties.

You are welcome to receive communion or a blessing, whichever you are most comfortable or familiar with. If you want to talk to someone about what receiving communion means, please speak to one of the welcome team or the clergy.

Many of our regular members actually pay directly into our bank or via the Parish Giving Scheme, but if you are new there is a plate by the door if you would like to make a donation. Please don’t feel obliged.
